Fabricator and Processor

In Subnautica 2 the Lifepod's Fabricator is damaged and cannot be fixed, so recipes marked "Requires Fully Functional Fabricator" need a new Fabricator built in a powered base (Titanium, Copper and Quartz, one each). Ingots come from the Processor, whose blueprint is scanned from a broken Processor in an abandoned base north of the Lifepod and which draws 10 energy per second.

"Requires Fully Functional Fabricator" in Subnautica 2 means the recipe cannot be made in the Lifepod: its Fabricator is damaged and cannot be repaired, so the fix is to build a new Fabricator in a base, from Titanium x1, Copper x1 and Quartz x1 with the Habitat Builder (Destructoid, May 16, 2026). Ingots and refined materials come from a second station, the Processor, whose blueprint is a scan of a broken Processor in an abandoned base north of the Lifepod. Both need base power. This page covers those two and the other crafting stations; the recipes themselves are on Crafting Recipes. Costs are from guides written on the Early Access launch build (May 2026). Kysen's May 14, 2026 guide, on the launch build, shows the difference: recipes grayed out in the Lifepod are all available at a base Fabricator.

Quick facts

Lifepod Fabricator Built-in power, damaged, cannot be fixed
Base Fabricator Titanium x1, Copper x1, Quartz x1; unlocks with habitats; 2 energy per second
Processor Titanium x2, Mild Acid x1, Copper Wire x1; 10 energy per second
Processor blueprint Scan a broken Processor in an abandoned base north of the Lifepod (positions differ by guide)
Other stations Biolab, Modification Station, Scanner Station, Vehicle Fabricator

Why does it say "Requires Fully Functional Fabricator"?

The Lifepod's Fabricator runs on built-in power but is broken, so part of its menu stays locked. Game Rant found no way to repair it: the answer is a base with its own Fabricator (Game Rant, May 14, 2026). That needs the Habitat Builder (its two fragments are at and around the Welcome Center, about 80 m southeast of the Lifepod, per Destructoid), a room or corridor, a hatch, and power. The base Fabricator is in the Habitat Builder's Interior Facilities menu once habitats are unlocked; it draws 2 energy units per second, and one or two Solar Panels run it, depending on depth (Game Rant). Power is on Base Power.

The Fabricator's menus seen in guides are Sustenance (water and food), Personal (tools), Resources (basic materials) and Consumables (Game Rant, May 14, 2026).

How do you make ingots in Subnautica 2?

Ingots need a Processor. Game Rant's guide scans a broken Processor in the abandoned base at Quaker's signal, about 412 m north of the Lifepod, in the second room, right corner. Destructoid puts it in the same lab as the Power Transmitter, about 300 m out at a heading of 30 degrees. The two may be one place described twice (north-northeast), but neither guide says so. Kysen's May 14, 2026 guide, on the launch build, scans it at Quaker's base, through the entry room on the right, a scan that also unlocks the Room.

The Processor costs Titanium x2, Mild Acid x1 and Copper Wire x1 (Destructoid) and uses 10 energy units per second, so it wants two or more Solar Panels or a battery (Game Rant). On the launch build, Game Rant timed Titanium, Copper, Mangalloy and Strontium at 30 seconds, Silver and Gold at 60 and Germanium and Plasteel at 120. Lucky Ghost's May 14, 2026 video, on the launch build, queues five 30-second Processor crafts and walks away, while a Fabricator queue of the same item cancels if you leave it.

Output Input
Titanium, Copper, Silver, Gold Ingot 3 of the ore
Germanium Ingot Silver x2 or Lead x2
Plasteel Ingot Titanium x2, Lithium x1
Mangalloy Ingot Titanium Ingot x1, Atacamite x1, Troilite x1
Strontium Celestine x2
Strong Acid Necrolei Cyst x2, or Sulfur x1 and Gold x1
Glass, Mild Acid, Grease, Water, First Aid Alternate recipes: Salt x2; Acidic Raion Pouch x2; Halfmoon x2; Fibrous Pulp x3; Medical Gel Sac x1

Other crafting stations

Station Cost (launch build) What it does Where its blueprint is
Biolab Titanium x3, Copper Wire x1, Mild Acid x1 Equip and swap Biomods Working Biolabs in the Welcome Center and, since 1.1, Coral Gardens and the Axum Ruins
Modification Station Titanium x2, Celestine x2, Copper x2 Prototype Tool Modifications (Bioscanner, Feedback Resonator) and Tadpole Upgrade Modules A Cicada Wreck in the Alien Ruins, behind a door the Repair Tool opens
Scanner Station Titanium x3, System Chip x1, Wiring Kit x1 Tracks one resource type within 300 m; 10 energy per second Known from the start (Destructoid); a fragment in Camp One, about 240 m northeast (Game Rant)
Vehicle Fabricator Titanium Ingot x2, Copper Ingot x1, Glass x2 (other guides differ) Builds the Tadpole and its chassis, on a Moonpool's edge With the Tadpole and Tadpole Dock blueprints (see Tadpole)

The first Biolab, in the Welcome Center about 85 m southeast, works once a Basic Battery goes into its wall panel, which also powers NOA there (Destructoid). Patch notes call the Modification Station "Mod Station" too, and 1.2 gave it a name, icon and Databank entry (Unknown Worlds, Aug 19, 2026). Update 1.1 made the Vehicle Dock and Vehicle Fabricator fit smaller rooms and line up with hatches, and added messages when the Moonpool must be enlarged (Unknown Worlds, Jul 8, 2026). The Vehicle Fabricator recipe is one of the most disputed: PCGamesN lists Titanium Ingot x2, Copper Wire x1 and Silver Ingot x1, and Dexerto one each of Titanium Ingot, Copper Ingot and Glass (all on Crafting Recipes).

Lockers feed the stations

Items in lockers near a station count toward its recipes (Game Rant, May 14, 2026). To keep something out of a recipe, use the storage buildable 1.1 added, which "does not contribute to nearby crafting systems" (Unknown Worlds, Jul 8, 2026). Game Rant's base order puts a power source, the Fabricator, storage and the Processor first, then the Scanner Station and the Vehicle Fabricator (Game Rant, May 14, 2026).

Frequently asked questions

How do I fix "Requires Fully Functional Fabricator" in Subnautica 2? Build a Fabricator in a powered base with the Habitat Builder (Titanium, Copper and Quartz, one each). The Lifepod's Fabricator stays damaged and cannot be repaired.

Where is the Processor blueprint in Subnautica 2? Scan a broken Processor in an abandoned lab north of the Lifepod: Game Rant puts it at Quaker's base about 412 m north, Destructoid in the Power Transmitter's lab about 300 m out at 30 degrees (launch build, May 2026).

How much power does the Processor need in Subnautica 2? 10 energy units per second, so two or more Solar Panels or a battery (Game Rant, May 14, 2026); the base Fabricator needs 2.

Can I make ingots in the Lifepod in Subnautica 2? No. Ingots need a Processor, which is built in a base.

What does the Modification Station do in Subnautica 2? It makes the Bioscanner, the Feedback Resonator and the Tadpole's upgrade modules; its blueprint is in a Cicada Wreck in the Alien Ruins, behind a door the Repair Tool opens.
