Silver
In Subnautica 2, Silver is found in shallow caves north of the Lifepod, marked by orange Pent plants at the cave mouths, and Unknown Worlds added more Silver to the early game region in Hotfix 2 and in Coral Gardens in update 1.1. It makes the Standard Air Tank, Wiring Kits, the Wakemaker and Silver Ingots.
Silver in Subnautica 2 sits in the caves north of the Lifepod: Game Rant's launch-week guide sends players about 200 m north (compass between N and 345) to caves with "hundreds" of nodes, and its progression guide puts the shallow Silver caves 290 to 350 m north at about 35 m deep. It was the first real bottleneck of the launch build, because the Standard Air Tank, every Wiring Kit and the Wakemaker need it, and Unknown Worlds has added more of it twice since: more Silver areas in the early game region in Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026), then "additional Silver updates in Coral Gardens" and a hint line spoken near Silver areas in update 1.1 (Jul 8, 2026). Every other raw material is on Resources. The clip is Breathtaker's May 18, 2026 resource guide, on the May 2026 build, which sends players to the caves beneath the Jelly Plateau for Silver by hand, and to the Dolerite Spires and above all the Needler Nests for large nodes.

Where is Silver in Subnautica 2?
Head north from the Lifepod into the rocky ground the guides call the Plateaus and look for cave mouths with orange-brown, spherical Pent plants beside them: Game Rant found that the Pent marks a Silver cave, and picking up a Pent also unlocks the Biofuel Block. Inside, small nodes give 1 Silver and medium ones 3, both by hand (Game Rant, May 14, 2026). The distances differ between guides because there are several caves: Game Rant's Silver guide says about 200 m, its progression guide 290 to 350 m at about 35 m deep, and its oxygen guide deep caves 150 to 200 m north. All three were written on launch day, before Hotfix 2 added more Silver. In Jade PG CRAFTED's May 16, 2026 guide, on the launch build, Silver shows right at the mouth of a cave about 284 m north of the Lifepod, in a purple jelly zone of falling tendrils, with Copper inside and a colonist bunker below.
IzPrebuilt's May 14, 2026 video, on the launch build, finds a closer first supply: a cave under a big coral dome about 100 m north of the Lifepod, with an air pocket in its ceiling and "not a huge amount" of Silver, enough for the first air tanks. With the Sonic Resonator, the same video finds "loads of silver" in a salt cave about 200 m southeast, and Silver commonly in deeper caves beyond the starting area.
Since update 1.1, Coral Gardens holds more Silver and a voice line plays when a player is near a Silver area (1.1 shipped it with a temporary radio sound, final voice to follow). Beebom's biome list also names Silver among the resources of the deep Root Canyon and a "Silver Mines" micro-biome (Beebom, May 19, 2026). A Scanner Station tracks Silver within 300 m once a base has one.

Silver Ingots in turn go into the Advanced Battery and the Tadpole Dock in Destructoid's list. Because the Wiring Kit sits inside the Sonic Resonator, Repair Tool, Scanner Station and every later electronic part, Game Rant's advice holds: take all the Silver and Lead you find early, and keep two Silver for the air tank before anything else (Game Rant, May 14, 2026).
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find Silver early in Subnautica 2? In the shallow caves north of the Lifepod, roughly 200 to 350 m out, where orange Pent plants grow at the cave mouths. Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026) and update 1.1 (Jul 8, 2026) added more Silver to the early areas and Coral Gardens.
Do I need the Sonic Resonator for Silver in Subnautica 2? No. Game Rant collected small (1) and medium (3) Silver nodes by hand on the launch build.
What is Silver used for in Subnautica 2? The Standard Air Tank (2 Silver), Wiring Kits, the Wakemaker, the Hydroelectric Turbine, Silver Ingots and Germanium Ingots, in Destructoid's May 16, 2026 list of the launch build.
Why can't I find Silver in Subnautica 2? At launch Silver was scarce, which is why Unknown Worlds added more in Hotfix 2 and again in 1.1. Look for the orange Pent at cave entrances, or build a Scanner Station and set it to Silver.

ResourcesSubnautica 2's resources run from Titanium, Copper and Quartz around the Lifepod, through Silver and Lead to the north and northeast and Gold, Sulfur and Lithium in the hot volcanic area, to Celestine, Conduit Crystal, Troilite and Atacamite in the far east. This page lists each one with where guides found it on the launch build, the tool it needs and what it makes.
-
PlateausThe Plateaus are Subnautica 2's rocky biome about 300 m northeast of the Lifepod, 23 to 119 m deep by All Things How's count, with Camp One, the Old Habitat and the caves that hold the early Silver; the sandy Lead Zone lies nearby.
-
Coral GardensCoral Gardens and North Coral Gardens are Unknown Worlds' names for Subnautica 2's early coral areas around the Lifepod; update 1.1 (Jul 8, 2026) put a second Biolab and more Silver there, and 1.2 gave North Coral Gardens its own music.
-
Root CanyonRoot Canyon is Subnautica 2's deepest explorable biome, a pitch-black canyon 365 to 750 m deep in the far east, with root-like walls, the Control Room, Tech Sites, Blight Nodes, a Cold Zone, colonist Dive Elevators and the Axum Metal Farms; the Collector Leviathan patrols its lower reaches.
-
Fabricator and ProcessorIn Subnautica 2 the Lifepod's Fabricator is damaged and cannot be fixed, so recipes marked "Requires Fully Functional Fabricator" need a new Fabricator built in a powered base (Titanium, Copper and Quartz, one each). Ingots come from the Processor, whose blueprint is scanned from a broken Processor in an abandoned base north of the Lifepod and which draws 10 energy per second.

Crafting RecipesSubnautica 2's recipes by station, as listed by Destructoid on May 16, 2026 (the Early Access launch build) with conflicts from other guides beside them, for example Titanium Ingot (Titanium x3 at the Processor), Wiring Kit (Silver x1, Copper Wire x1) and Basic Battery (Copper x2, Acidic Raion Pouch x1). Hotfix 3 cut Interior Wall cost to a quarter, and no guide has republished a full list since updates 1.1 and 1.2.
