Resources

Subnautica 2's resources run from Titanium, Copper and Quartz around the Lifepod, through Silver and Lead to the north and northeast and Gold, Sulfur and Lithium in the hot volcanic area, to Celestine, Conduit Crystal, Troilite and Atacamite in the far east. This page lists each one with where guides found it on the launch build, the tool it needs and what it makes.

Subnautica 2's raw materials sit in rings around the Lifepod: Titanium, Copper, Quartz and the plant materials in the Shallows and their caves; Silver and Lead a few hundred meters north and northeast; Gold, Sulfur and Lithium in the hot volcanic ground to the east and southeast, which needs Heat Tolerance; and Celestine, Creature Enamel, Conduit Crystal, Troilite and Atacamite past the Collector Leviathan in the far east. Unknown Worlds publishes no resource map, so the positions below come from editorial guides written on the Early Access launch build (May 14 to 23, 2026), credited by name; Unknown Worlds has since added more Silver and Troilite (Hotfix 2, May 22, 2026) and more Silver in Coral Gardens (1.1, Jul 8, 2026). What each material makes is on Crafting Recipes. The clip is IzPrebuilt's May 14, 2026 video, on the launch build, naming Titanium, Copper, Quartz, Salt, Lead and Silver as the starting area's big materials.

Sources: Game Rant's resource guides of May 14 to 16, 2026 (Titanium, Copper, Quartz, Fibrous Pulp, Acidic Raion Pouch, Medical Gel Sac, Lucifer Rotsac, Salt, Necrolei Cyst, inventory, scanning); TheGamer, May 15, 2026 for Water Slugs, Cherimoya Rotsac and crab shells; uses from Destructoid's resource index, May 14 to 15, 2026; Growbeds from 1.2.

Copper caves have poison-spewing plants whose clouds hurt (Game Rant, May 14, 2026). Metal Salvage is worth carrying whole: it takes one slot and becomes four Titanium (Game Rant).

Silver and Lead

Silver is in the caves north of the Lifepod, about 200 to 350 m out, marked by Pent at the mouths; Lead is on the seafloor about 60 m deep northeast, at 254 m (TheGamer) or 340 m (Game Rant). Both were scarce on the launch build, and Game Rant's advice is to take all of either you see. Each has its own page. Jade PG CRAFTED's May 16, 2026 guide, on the launch build, finds both on one trip: Silver at the mouth of a cave about 284 m north, then Lead next door to the east, about 380 m out at a heading of about 30, at a large wreck.

The hot area: Sulfur, Gold and Lithium

Resource Where (launch build) How Main uses
Sulfur Yellow patches with a flashing yellow gas light around Chap's bunker, 232 m southeast; the area is hot By hand Advanced Wiring Kit, Repair Tool, Strong Acid
Gold Golden perforated spheres on Radiator Corals in the volcanic vents, 50 to 250 m deep; best at a large lava coral structure near the Cicada Wreck about 450 m east (40 or more in one Resonator run, per Dexerto) Small by hand; large with the Resonator (5 each) Gold Ingot, Advanced Wiring Kit, Strong Acid, Thermal Plant
Lithium Lava-biome caves with glowing green grass and cyan-stemmed mushrooms, about 250 m south-southeast (compass 120) at 125 m; the Great Jaw also expels lithium nodules Only large deposits, Sonic Resonator, 1 to 2 per node Plasteel Ingot, Portable Oxygen Generator

Sources: Game Rant's Sulfur guide, May 14, 2026; Gold, May 16, 2026; Lithium, May 16, 2026; Dexerto: Gold, May 14, 2026; Dexerto: Great Jaw.

Game Rant gives two more Gold positions, 350 m south-southeast and 250 m east-southeast, against Dexerto's 450 m east; they are likely separate vents. Gold and Lithium need Heat Tolerance, the second Adaptation; most of this ground is in the Graveyard. Breathtaker's May 18, 2026 guide, on the May 2026 build, grabs Sulfur and a little Gold at the edge of the Graveyard before Heat Tolerance, Sulfur also by the white crab shells, and bigger Gold nodes from the Graveyard's rock formations and caves once the Adaptation is taken.

Late resources in the east

Resource Where (launch build) How Main uses
Celestine Light blue crystal clusters; rock faces about 290 m south of the Alien Ruins waypoint at 250 m or deeper (Game Rant); TheGamer lists 1,280 m east-southeast at about 290 m, 1,970 m east at about 350 m and 2,130 m east at about 267 m Sonic Resonator Modification Station, Strontium, Depth Module Mk. 1, Axum lamps
Creature Enamel Blue-green Enamel Husks on rock walls about 300 m south of the Alien Ruins, 200 m or deeper Sonic Resonator Enameled Glass
Conduit Crystal 300 m deep or more; four or five appear around the Angel Comb east of the Alien Ruins once it is activated Sonic Resonator, about 1 to 4 per crystal Advanced Battery, Bioscanner, Entangled Power Cell, Feedback Resonator, Improved Fins
Troilite Green Mineralized Clinkers around the green pools of the Metal Farms, below about 400 m Sonic Resonator Mangalloy Ingot, Ultra High Capacity Air Tank, Depth Module Mk. 2
Atacamite Exposed on the seabed at the Karakorum Metal Farm, "currently the edge of the Early Access map" (Dexerto) By hand; no longer with the Resonator since 1.2 Mangalloy Ingot, Ultra High Capacity Air Tank, Axum items
Axum Bacterial Culture With Troilite and Atacamite (Dexerto); scannable since 1.2 Pick up Metal Farm

Sources: Game Rant's Celestine guide, May 15, 2026; TheGamer's Celestine guide, May 21, 2026; Creature Enamel, May 15, 2026; Conduit Crystal, May 17, 2026; Dexerto: Atacamite and Axum Bacterial Culture, May 14, 2026; 1.2.

These lie in the Tar Cascades, around Observatory Island and in the Metal Farms, and need a Tadpole with a depth module. Game Rant suggests a one-room outpost near the Alien Ruins with a Scanner Station and a Hydroelectric Turbine, for about 14 Titanium, 1 Quartz, 4 Copper, 3 Silver, 1 System Chip and 1 Wiring Kit. In Breathtaker's May 18, 2026 guide, on the May 2026 build, Celestine and Creature Enamel come from the Needler Nests, much of the enamel above the Tadpole's 250 m limit; Atacamite is a small greenish-gray crystal on the flat, sandy Karakorum plains; and Conduit Crystals sit in the sandy cliffs and plains around the Karakorum power plant.

Finding resources: the Scanner Station

The Scanner Station (Titanium x3, System Chip x1, Wiring Kit x1, known from the start) tracks one resource type at a time within 300 m, along with Alterra Bases, Cicada Wrecks, Bloom infestations and anomalies; click an orb in its hologram to put a signal on the HUD. It draws 10 energy per second (Game Rant, May 14, 2026). Update 1.2 fixed it showing nodes that did not exist and Buddy System Hotfix 2 (Oct 6, 2026) fixed it not finding resources accurately. Since 1.2, sources of acid show as green dots on the handheld Scanner's HUD (Unknown Worlds). More on stations: Fabricator and Processor. Lucky Ghost's May 14, 2026 video, on the launch build, uses it by standing in the middle of the hologram and clicking a dot, which puts the target straight ahead, and rates it most useful at a second base, since the first base's surroundings are usually explored already.

Do resources respawn?

Plants regrow: Game Rant cut Fibrous Pulp, Acidic Raion Pouches and Lucifer Rotsacs again from the same plants. Whether ore nodes come back is not settled: guides disagree, and Unknown Worlds has said nothing, so this page does not claim either way (as of Nov 4, 2026). A renewable supply exists late: the Axum Metal Farm grows a chosen resource on base power. Jade PG CRAFTED's May 16, 2026 guide saw one late material return: Axum Bacterial Culture grew back, but only one piece in about 40 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Quartz in Subnautica 2? Inside the orange, hollow Coral Domes around the Lifepod at 10 to 30 m deep; the "Spider Dome" about 220 m out at compass 240 to 245 holds nearly 100 small pieces (Game Rant, May 14, 2026, the launch build).

Where is Copper in Subnautica 2? In the cave under the coral dome about 30 m east of the Lifepod, in a cave about 130 m east past a strong current, and near Old Habitat and Camp Zero 300 to 400 m north (Game Rant, May 14, 2026).

What do I need the Sonic Resonator for in Subnautica 2? Large nodes (5 ore each), Lithium, Celestine, Creature Enamel, Conduit Crystal and Troilite, and the Bloom Biofilm that blocks caves. Atacamite is the exception: since 1.2 the Resonator cannot harvest it.

What is the rarest resource in Subnautica 2? Early on, Silver and Lead; later, Troilite and Atacamite at the eastern edge of the Early Access map. Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026) added more Silver and Troilite areas.

How do I track a resource in Subnautica 2? Build a Scanner Station in a powered base, choose the resource, and click its orb to mark it on the HUD; it covers 300 m.
