Troilite
In Subnautica 2, Troilite is a late-game resource broken out of green Mineralized Clinkers with the Sonic Resonator around the green pools of the Axum Metal Farms, far east of the Alien Ruins and below about 400 m, with a Collector Leviathan nearby. Hotfix 2 added more Troilite areas, and it makes Mangalloy Ingots, the Ultra High Capacity Air Tank and the Depth Module Mk. 2.
Troilite in Subnautica 2 comes from green Mineralized Clinkers that the Sonic Resonator breaks open around the green pools northeast of the eastern Angel Comb, below about 400 m, in Game Rant's May 17, 2026 guide; Dexerto places it "only" at the Karakorum Metal Farm, about 700 m east-southeast of the Alien Base, around a large green pool. Both describe the launch build, both warn of a Leviathan patrolling above, and both are probably the same place under two names, which neither guide confirms. Unknown Worlds then "Added more Troilite resource areas in late game region" in Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026), so it is less scarce than launch guides suggest. It is the last-tier ore of the current Early Access map, used in Mangalloy and in the deepest Tadpole module. Breathtaker's May 18, 2026 resource guide, on the May 2026 build, reaches it by heading east along the northern edge of the map to the Karakorum Metal Farms and breaking the greenish rocks along the mine's flat steps.

Where is Troilite in Subnautica 2?
Troilite is at the far eastern end of the Early Access map. All Things How puts the Axum Metal Farms about 2,000 to 2,200 m east-northeast of the Lifepod, from the surface to about 500 m, with Troilite, Celestine, Atacamite and Axum Bacterial Culture, and a Collector Leviathan. Getting there takes a Tadpole with a depth module, since its default crush depth is 250 m (see Tadpole Upgrades), and in guide order it comes after the Alien Ruins and the Axum Vision Angel Comb. Jade PG CRAFTED's May 16, 2026 guide, on the launch build, gets there by heading northeast and following the Early Access barrier wall, kept on the left, until it reaches the Metal Farm, and recommends at least the 450 m depth module (or plenty of oxygen), with a Collector roaming higher up.
Look for the green pools and the green, crusted rocks around them, and hit them with the Sonic Resonator. One of the two Feedback Resonator fragments lies by the same pools (Game Rant, May 17, 2026). Atacamite, Troilite's partner in Mangalloy, lies exposed on the seabed nearby; since update 1.2 it can no longer be harvested with a Sonic Resonator. In the same guide the Troilite is in green clumps beside the pools, which Jade calls yellow, with Axum Bacterial Culture in the pools themselves and plenty of Celestine nearby.
What Troilite makes
As listed by Destructoid on May 16, 2026, the launch build:
| Item | Station | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Mangalloy Ingot | Processor | Titanium Ingot x1, Atacamite x1, Troilite x1 |
| Ultra High Capacity Air Tank | Fabricator | High Capacity Air Tank x1, Troilite x3, Atacamite x3 |
| Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2 | Modification Station | Dedicated Core x2, Troilite x2, Mangalloy Ingot x2 |
| Entangled Power Cell | Fabricator | Conduit Crystal x1, Strong Acid x1, Gold Ingot x1, Troilite x1 |
| Photovoltaic Charger | Modification Station | Copper Ingot x1, Strong Acid x1, Troilite x1 |

Counting the Mangalloy inside it, a Depth Module Mk. 2 takes four Troilite, and the Ultra High Capacity Air Tank three more. Mangalloy also builds the Metal Farm (see Farming), so a full late-game kit needs well over ten. More recipes are on Crafting Recipes. In Jade's guide a Metal Farm fed Troilite grows a node in about 20 minutes, which the Sonic Resonator breaks for about three pieces, and the farm itself costs Mangalloy and Axum Bacterial Culture.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find Troilite in Subnautica 2? Around the green pools of the Axum Metal Farms, east of the Alien Ruins and below about 400 m, by breaking green Mineralized Clinkers with the Sonic Resonator (Game Rant and Dexerto, May 2026). Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026) added more Troilite areas in the late game region.
Is there a Leviathan near the Troilite in Subnautica 2? Yes. Both guides warn of a Leviathan patrolling above the pools, and All Things How lists a Collector Leviathan at the Metal Farms.
What is Troilite used for in Subnautica 2? Mangalloy Ingots, the Ultra High Capacity Air Tank, the Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2, the Entangled Power Cell and the Photovoltaic Charger, in launch-build recipe lists.

Metal FarmsThe Axum Metal Farms are the far eastern edge of Subnautica 2's Early Access map, about 2,000 to 2,200 m east-northeast of the Lifepod beside the Karakorum Power Plant, the only source of Troilite and Atacamite and where you find the Axum Bacterial Culture to build a Metal Farm of your own.
-
Collector LeviathanThe Collector Leviathan is Subnautica 2's giant squid, found in the trench about 700 m east of the Lifepod past the hot Graveyard waters; it cannot be killed, so you cross its trench low along the bottom in a Tadpole. Scanning it teaches the Sonic Echo Biomod.
-
TadpoleThe Tadpole is Subnautica 2's only submersible in Early Access, built at a Vehicle Fabricator on a Moonpool from 2 Titanium Ingots, 1 Glass, 1 System Chip and 1 Power Cell. Its crush depth is 250 m until a Depth Module raises it, and it takes the Scout Ray and Haul chassis. -
Tadpole UpgradesSubnautica 2's Tadpole has four upgrade slots for six modules made at the Modification Station: Engine Efficiency, Strike Armor, Cavitation Muffler, Photovoltaic Charger and Depth Modules Mk. 1 and Mk. 2. Mk. 1 raises crush depth from 250 m to 450 m.
-
Observatory IslandObservatory Island is Subnautica 2's Axum tower rising out of the sea about 1,000 to 1,200 m east of the Lifepod, with the Alien Ruins (Unknown Worlds' Axum Ruins), the Rosetta Stone, a Biolab since 1.1 and the Axum Observatory, where the Early Access story stops.

AdaptationsSubnautica 2 has four Adaptations, permanent body changes taken from Angel Combs, as of Nov 4, 2026. Pressure Tolerance comes in the opening, Digestion from an Angel Comb about 130 to 180 m north-northeast of the Lifepod, Heat Tolerance from an infected Angel Comb about 200 m northwest once the Sonic Resonator clears it, and Axum Vision from an Angel Comb about 1,800 m east.
