Plateaus
The Plateaus are Subnautica 2's rocky biome about 300 m northeast of the Lifepod, 23 to 119 m deep by All Things How's count, with Camp One, the Old Habitat and the caves that hold the early Silver; the sandy Lead Zone lies nearby.
The Plateaus are the rocky, trench-cut biome next to the Shallows, about 300 m northeast of the Lifepod and 23 to 119 m deep by All Things How's launch-build reference (May 20, 2026), with Camp One, the Old Habitat and the cave system where Subnautica 2's early Silver is found. All Things How says a large dead jellyfish draped over the rocks marks it. "Plateaus" is the guides' name; Unknown Worlds' notes name the places in it (Camp One, Old Habitat) but not the biome. The sandy Lead Zone, another guide name, lies a little farther out and is covered at the end of this page.

Camp One
Camp One is a colonist camp that the story sends you to after the first bunkers (MeinMMO, May 27, 2026). It is where you first meet a Marrowbreach, which triggers the line "You are being hunted" (Unknown Worlds, 1.2); see Dangerous Creatures. Game Rant's launch guides make it one of the best early mining spots: a current-filled tunnel there is full of large Titanium nodes, with loose ore on the island-like rocks (May 14, 2026), and it has large Quartz deposits (Game Rant). A Scanner Station fragment lies in Camp One in a room tilted about 80 degrees, which Game Rant puts about 240 m northeast. 1.2 fixed clients in a co-op session being unable to trigger the signals for Camp One and the Old Habitat.
The Old Habitat
The Old Habitat holds early colonist lore and blackboxes (All Things How), two Battery Terminal fragments (Game Rant) and a Bioreactor fragment in its west wing (Destructoid, May 16, 2026). A NOA terminal there gives the colonist directive that sends you east to the Tadpole Pens (Beebom); see Graveyard and Story Walkthrough. Guides disagree on its position: Destructoid and one Game Rant guide put it 375 to 380 m north, another Game Rant guide about 220 m southeast.
IGN's May 19, 2026 map tour, on the launch build, places both west of the guides above: Camp One, "swarming with nibbler sharks", among abandoned settlements west-northwest of the Lifepod, and the Old Habitat "farther west still", with a craftable resource scanner among its loot; enormous BFJ jellyfish tell you that you are in the right area.
Two more colonist bunkers with Upgrade Biobeds count as Plateaus places for All Things How: Sophie's Retreat, 440 m north, and Salvage, 210 m north-northeast, whose Biobed gives Dexterity (+1 quickbar slot) (Game Rant, May 23, 2026).
Where are the Silver caves in Subnautica 2?
The Plateaus Caves are the guides' reliable early Silver, on the launch build. Game Rant finds silver caves about 200 m north of the Lifepod, between compass N and 345, with "hundreds" of nodes; another Game Rant guide puts them 290 to 350 m north at about 35 m. Orange-brown spherical Pent plants at a cave mouth mark a silver cave, and picking a Pent unlocks the Biofuel Block (Game Rant). Small nodes give 1 Silver and medium nodes 3, by hand. Beebom describes the caves as deeper and more complex than those of the Shallows, with tunnels into other biomes and aggressive creatures in the dark sections (May 19, 2026). Unknown Worlds added more Silver areas in Hotfix 2 (May 22, 2026) and in Coral Gardens in 1.1 (Coral Gardens). The full guide is Silver.
In Jade's May 16, 2026 guide, on the launch build, the cave network lies 284 m north of the Lifepod in a purple jelly zone with tendrils hanging over the caves. Silver shows right at the entrance she recommends, with Copper inside, a colonist bunker below and plenty of breathing holes up to the surface.
The Lead Zone
The Lead Zone is barren sandy ridges with few lifeforms, shallow, about 400 m northwest of the Lifepod, with Lead, Copper and Titanium and the Atoll, a Nook and a Wreck (All Things How). Beebom lists the Atoll cave too and says the Deepwing Brooder has been seen there (Beebom); see Deepwing Brooder. Game Rant's Lead guide points elsewhere: "hundreds" of deposits on the seafloor below the Cicada Wreck (Lander Garage), about 340 m northeast at 60 m. Lead and Titanium look alike, so check the scan. Small Lead nodes give 1 by hand, large ones 5 with the Sonic Resonator, whose own recipe needs Lead. See Lead.
Jade's guide finds Lead next door, east of the jelly area, around a large wreck about 380 m from the Lifepod on a bearing of about 30, between north and northeast: deposits lie in the open in a gully and in the caves under the wreck, the larger ones in the gully beside it, with big Silver deposits, Copper and Titanium too.

SilverIn Subnautica 2, Silver is found in shallow caves north of the Lifepod, marked by orange Pent plants at the cave mouths, and Unknown Worlds added more Silver to the early game region in Hotfix 2 and in Coral Gardens in update 1.1. It makes the Standard Air Tank, Wiring Kits, the Wakemaker and Silver Ingots.
-
TadpoleThe Tadpole is Subnautica 2's only submersible in Early Access, built at a Vehicle Fabricator on a Moonpool from 2 Titanium Ingots, 1 Glass, 1 System Chip and 1 Power Cell. Its crush depth is 250 m until a Depth Module raises it, and it takes the Scout Ray and Haul chassis. -
Dangerous CreaturesSubnautica 2's dangerous creatures below Leviathan size are the Marrowbreach, Hammerhead, Nibbler Mango, Needler Mango, Bullethead, Twin Sitaray, Sandspear, Foureye, Bloom Parasite and Tongue Thief; none can be killed, so you deter them with the Survival Multitool, the Sonic Resonator and flares.
-
GraveyardThe Graveyard is Subnautica 2's hot, orange-watered biome, 0 to 266 m deep, that needs the Heat Tolerance Adaptation; it holds Gold, Salt, Sulfur and Lithium, the Tadpole Pens, Tailings Village, a Cicada Wreck, Nahema's Lab and hundreds of Water Slugs.

Story WalkthroughSubnautica 2's Early Access story runs from the Lifepod and the Welcome Center through the Digestion and Heat Tolerance Angel Combs, the Tadpole Pens and the Collector Leviathan's trench to the Axum ruins, Axum Vision, the Power Plant and the Observatory, where it stops as of Nov 4, 2026; there is no ending yet.

Coral GardensCoral Gardens and North Coral Gardens are Unknown Worlds' names for Subnautica 2's early coral areas around the Lifepod; update 1.1 (Jul 8, 2026) put a second Biolab and more Silver there, and 1.2 gave North Coral Gardens its own music.
