Anemone Hills

The Anemone Hills are Subnautica 2's biome of towering pink-and-green anemones about 300 m northwest of the Lifepod, 0 to 151 m deep, where the infected Heat Tolerance Angel Comb waits behind Bloom you clear with the Sonic Resonator.

The Anemone Hills are a biome of towering pink-and-green anemones about 300 m northwest of Subnautica 2's Lifepod, 0 to 151 m deep by All Things How's launch-build reference (May 20, 2026), and the home of the infected Angel Comb that gives the Heat Tolerance Adaptation: clear the Bloom around it with the Sonic Resonator and you can enter the hot Graveyard. "Anemone Hills" is an official name: Unknown Worlds' 1.2 notes fixed "circles of light" seen on bases built there (Unknown Worlds, Aug 19, 2026). It lies beside the Necrolei Hills.

Where is the Heat Tolerance Angel Comb in Subnautica 2?

PCGamesN puts the Heat Tolerance Angel Comb 190 to 205 m northwest of the Lifepod, at headings between 285 and 345 (May 20, 2026); All Things How describes it as "south of Anemone Hills". Both are launch-build guides. The Comb is infected, so it does nothing until the Bloom around it is gone. IGN's May 19, 2026 map tour, on the launch build (the clip above), puts the blighted area with this Comb "roughly west southwest of the life pod", with an area of anemones and Necrolei Cysts farther southwest beyond it, so the guides' headings differ here too.

How do you clear the infected Angel Comb?

You need the Sonic Resonator, because the Bloom "cannot be destroyed with brute force" (PCGamesN, May 14, 2026). The story leads you to it: NOA sends you to pioneer Wander's signal in a plague-tainted zone (MeinMMO), and near it a Sonic Resonator lies in an open box past Bloom biofilm that blocks a cave. PCGamesN's steps on the launch build:

  1. Get the Sonic Resonator from the box near Wander's signal, or scan its fragments: Game Rant finds one in a white box on a metal platform about 235 m out at 248 degrees, with Wander's audio log, and another in Quaker's abandoned base.
  2. Craft it if needed: 1 Basic Battery, 1 Wiring Kit, 2 Titanium Ingots and 2 Lead (PCGamesN).
  3. Use it on the three Bloom areas around the Angel Comb; with all three cleared, the Comb opens and you take Heat Tolerance at its core.

Kysen's May 14, 2026 guide, on the launch build, plays it through: a big orange growth marks the place, the Resonator first blasts open the way down a hole beneath it, then you follow the purple tentacles to each glowing blue growth and blast it. With those gone the Angel Comb opens, and while you use it your air stops falling and refills. He used up all his distraction flares and was down to one first aid kit, and warns that "you will be attacked a lot".

Bloom Sap can also block oxygen pockets, so watch your air while you work. See The Bloom and Tools and Modifications. Since 1.1 most creatures go dizzy after a Resonator hit, and since 1.2 the stun lasts 10 seconds (Unknown Worlds).

Resources

All Things How lists Acidic Raion Pouch, Cherimoya Rotsac and Quartz (May 20, 2026); Beebom says many crafting ingredients grow there. TheGamer finds Cherimoya Rotsac in organic cages in the shallows northwest of the Lifepod (May 15, 2026). Acid Raion plants give three pouches each and regrow (Game Rant). All Things How also lists a Rebreather in Hills Wreck 1, a different place from Destructoid's (see Dolerite Spires); 1.1 moved some wreck rewards when it added oxygen puzzles (Unknown Worlds).

Creatures

Beebom lists Foureye, Geordie, Hammerhead, Halfmoon, Jetocaris, Marrowbreach and the Acid Anemone (May 19, 2026). The Marrowbreach is the danger: a sharklike hunter drawn to bright light that circles and test-bumps before it bites, and Hotfix 3 (Jun 1, 2026) raised its damage while spacing its attacks out (Unknown Worlds). Hammerheads ram in herds. See Dangerous Creatures.

Frequently asked questions

Where are the Anemone Hills in Subnautica 2? About 300 m northwest of the Lifepod, 0 to 151 m deep, by All Things How's launch-build reference; look for the giant pink-and-green anemones.

How do you get Heat Tolerance in Subnautica 2? Clear the three Bloom areas around the infected Angel Comb near the Anemone Hills with the Sonic Resonator, then take the Adaptation at the Comb; PCGamesN puts it 190 to 205 m northwest of the Lifepod.

Why can't I use the Angel Comb in Subnautica 2? It is infected by the Bloom. Destroy the Bloom around it with the Sonic Resonator first; the Angel Combs of the Axum ruins also need the Feedback Resonator for their pink cankers.

Can you build a base in the Anemone Hills in Subnautica 2? Yes; update 1.2 even fixed a lighting bug on bases built there. See Best Base Locations for the tradeoffs.
